Even the most seasoned Londoners will know that there’s always something new to see, do and explore in the city – from new restaurants, bars, and cultural spaces to green spaces, art exhibitions and music venues.
Getting around the capital to see these sights is part of the fun, and hopping on the tube is just one way. Since the London underground was built in 1863 a whole new network of transport around the city has been established. And while cycling, walking and jumping on a London bus are popular options, there are more wonderful ways to explore.
View the city from the water…
Why not visit a new place by taking a journey down the river? The Thames Clipper is one of the most efficient ways to get around the city, stopping at 23 piers along the river. A number of our developments across London are ideally located for this – with boat stops close to our developments Royal Albert Wharf, Woolwich Reach and Castle & Victoria.
Getting from north of the river to south is also possible by boat, with the Woolwich Ferry – easily accessible from our Woolwich Reach development – taking you across the Thames into the heart of Woolwich to enjoy the area’s many cultural delights. If boats don’t take your fancy, you can choose a route under the river by taking the Woolwich Foot Tunnel, which is open 24 hours a day.
..or appreciate city-wide views from the sky
For more of a wow factor when travelling – or for a special trip – the Emirates Air Line cable car is the one for you. Just a short walk from Goodluck Hope, the journey will take you across the Thames to the Greenwich Peninsula with an incredible view of the London skyline. Sitting at just under 300ft, this is the highest observation point over the river and is open until 7pm every evening for a night time viewing.

Heading further south, did you know you can explore areas including Croydon by the London Tram? With a tram stop on the doorstep of our development, Aspect Croydon, you can get to Wimbledon within half an hour.
The new Elizabeth Line promises fantastic connectivity across London – helping people to explore from east to west and into greater London. Our developments The Perfume Factory is a 12 minute walk from Acton Main Line, while Castle and Victoria in SW1E, Goodluck Hope in E14, Indigo House, Royal Albert Wharf and Woolwich Reach in E16 are all within cycling distance of the new stations.
..or get your heart pumping while you explore
Then why not travel by bike across the city? Whether you own your bike or hire a Santander cycle, hopping on the saddle is a brilliant way to explore London and see the bits you might miss by train, bus or car. And now there are even more alternative cycling options available – including e-bikes from Lime and HumanForest (which offers cyclists 10 minutes a day of free cycling!). Notting Hill Genesis developments are close to docking stations for many bike hire schemes, and many also have secure cycling storage for residents.
